Sunset

I have been living in several countries and always enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Sweden might not be the best country to see a magnificent sunset, but I was surprised one evening returning home. I am not sure the pictures tell the absolute truth, it was breathtaking. I hope the some of the feelings can be felt from the photos.

 One of my favourite composer of film music, is Ennio Morricone. Unfortunately, I have not been able to see him live. Still hoping to find the place and opportunity. In the meantime, I had to settle with Malmö Symphony Orchestra and its interpretation of his music. It was great fun. His best film music, I think, is the the themes from the Dollar movies. They are just so great! Such music is at its best, being played by a Symphony Orchestra. It took place at Malmö Live, the city's concert hall. The hall has great acoustics and made it into a memorable evening.

The Content Reader Goes Outdoors

You might wonder what this is all about? Well, after blogging for seven years on The Content Reader , it is time to look back and see what I have done. Blogging has been a wonderful experience for me. Exchanging views on books are a treat, and I really appreciate the very dedicated audience out there. Reaching out all over the world and to experience readers in other countries, has also enriched my own reading. I have ventured into books I would never have read otherwise. Well, I had to make sure it was true!  I have mixed my book blog The Content Reader with other interests of mine; travelling, history, outdoors, sports etc. After having had a very outdoor holiday this year, camping in Switzerland, Italy and Sweden, I wanted to share these memories with you. A visit to Glimmingehus

Glimmingehus is a medieval castle located about an hour's drive from my home. If due to the coronavirus or not, only guided tours are available, every hour. I came 15 min before the first tour at 11 am, and got a ticket for the 1 pm tour. I spent the waiting time visiting the small, but interesting museum, walking around the castle, visiting the herb's garden, and the small park surrounding the estate. As I always have a book in my bag, I sat down at a picnic area to read while waiting for the tour to begin.  I always find guided tours interesting. They will tell you a little bit more about the history and the lives of the people living there. The estate has quite an interesting story, and we were treated with information about past and present times.  Glimmingehus was built 1499-1506, during an era when this place was part of Denmark. A trip to Austria

Our son Hannes is going to study for a Masters in Geophysics in a program that covers three universities; Delft, Zürich, and Aachen. Normally, it would not be a problem to go from Sweden to Holland for the start of the semester. However, this year is not normal. Swedes coming to Holland had to be in quarantine for 14 days. It would have been expensive to stay so long. He could not come into his student hotel until 1 September. Instead, we decided to go to Austria. Martin, my husband, was already there and had arranged for a corona test the day after our arrival. Otherwise, we would have had to spend the entire time in quarantine. It has been difficult for Swedes to travel this summer, although it has eased now. Well, as Donald Trump says: "It is what it is." We took the car in mid-August and drove 16 hours to arrive in Innsbruck in Innsbruck. A long drive indeed, but it went very well. Visiting Florence, Italy

To celebrate my birthday in mid-February, I visited Florence, Italy for three days. We were lucky to get out of there just before the coronavirus started to spread. It is one of my favourite cities to visit. Apart from visiting the wonderful museums, houses, and art, it is a pleasure just to walk the streets. It takes you back to the Italian renaissance and the glory of this city. We stayed at a small B&B just neighbouring Il Duomo. What a view to wake up to in the morning! There were many tourists and the line to get into the dom was too long for us to try. I have seen it during an earlier visit. It is a beauty just to walk around from the outside. The building started in 1296 in the Gothic style, and with a design by Arnolfo di Cambio. It was not completed until 140 years later in 1436 when the dom was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. Autumn colours

Autumn in Sweden is not the best season. Here in the south, it is often grey, windy and rainy. However, from time to time the sun comes out and it is lovely to walk in the forest. I have joined a hiking group and enjoy their trips. In September, when the sun was still shining, we hade a wonderful day in Frostavallen, a recreation area north of Malmö. The walk was around 20 km, and it was very warm for the season. People were even swimming in the lake. One of the most beautiful walks I have done in Sweden. Yesterday, we walked around the outskirts of Malmö, in another recreation area, Bulltofta. It used to be a domestic airport, but is now a recreational area with a variety of walks. It was rather cold and windy, but fresh. It took us on a 10 km tour, before we were rewarded with grilled hot dogs. Back home I took a hot shower, to shake off the cold wind. Delft, a magic city

 After two weeks in Austria, it was time to set the GPS for Delft in the Netherlands. We had been there once before, for a rather quick visit. The only memory I had was the visit to the Vermeer centre and that we had a parking boot when we came back to the car. Fifty-fifty good and bad memories. Delft city view We found a really great apartment just at the border of the old town. It was close to everything we needed: the old city for sightseeing and eating and the Technical University for Hannes. Delft is one of the most beautiful cities I have visited. There are the old houses and churches, the canals and the small bridges. Walking distance everywhere. You are literary walking in history. We were there for five days so did not have to rush. A must is to visit the centre dedicated to the most famous man from Delft, Johannes Vermeer . He was born in Delft in 1632 and died there in 1675.
