Excursions nearby

In corona times we take the opportunity to discover new areas for walking. Usually, we walk directly from our house down to the sea, or we take the car to venture out in the many natural parks we have nearby. As has been the case for five weeks(!), yes incredible for being Sweden, we have had sunshine, almost the entire time. Now the temperature has gone up somewhat as well, so we thought this was the perfect time to clean and maintain our electric bikes.

Yesterday, we took the first ride for the year. A wonderful day and we went over to Katrinetorps Landeri. It is an old manor house and farm, now more of a museum with a restaurant, antique shop, and a souvenirs shop. In the old days, houses like this were used by the well off people from Malmö to use as their summer retreat. It has a big garden at the back of the house filled with flowers and vegetables. Around it is a natural park with a gazebo, small lakes and ponds, paths and small bridges connecting the two sides of the water features. It was beautiful. After a small walk, we sat down with ice cream to enjoy the sun and the flowers.

On the way home stopping by the supermarket for a few items. After a shower and a cup of coffee one is rather pleased with the day. The quote above is from the excellent and interesting book Tulipomania by Mike Dash. At least if you are a tulip freak like myself! You find a small review under the link.

  1. I've not been out since mid-March so I'm just the slightest bit envious of your wonderful road trip. It's really beautiful. I'm glad your weather is so good. Our April has been fussy -- sometimes lovely and at others -- like today -- cold, windy and just the slightest bit damp. Enjoy every second!

    1. It must be hard. It must be hard. One thing is to choose to stay inside. I don't go out every day. But, when you have to stay inside, that is another matter. I know you love nature so even more difficult for you. Maybe you have a garden to enjoy at least? Keep safe, that is most important these days.

    1. That is lovely to hear Mel. I feel sorry for you, but this is the situation for many people in the world today. I hope you have a garden to enjoy at least.

    1. How wonderful! Love old trees. It seems birds and insects are more visible these days. I think it is due to lower pollution, and that transport means are low. It is so quiet everywhere, one can really listen to it. Hope you are able to venture outside a bit by now.
